You are always hoping that movie audiences are interested in characters and interested in story values rather than just mindless special effects. But you never know.

In ‚Changeling,‘ I tried to show something you’d never see nowadays – a kid sitting and looking at the radio. Just sitting in front of the radio and listening. Your mind does the rest.

And I try to give the best bang for the buck. I love performing more than anything else.

The secret to humor is surprise.

I do probably 60 concerts a year in the States. And I go out to clubs in the week. I’m doing new stuff all the time.

People don’t want drama 365 days a year. I’m a sense of relief; it’s my job to take your mind off what’s bad for that brief second you’re in the room with me, regardless of shape, race, colour or anything. It brings people together, and it makes me feel good about what I’m doing.

Football games are on TV, and it doesn’t affect stadium attendance at all. It’s the same with movies. People who really love movies and like to go out on a Saturday night will go to the movie theater.

Most of the stuff I do on the show comes out of me just trying to make my friends laugh.

I prefer to be in a video than to play with it.

I like to change characters and then, slowly I believe the audience treat me as, like an actor who can fight. It’s not like an action star.

You think I’m going to ask these sweet 14 year olds to ask their parents to buy a $100 ticket then run around in latex and lip sync? No way.

I could have spent eight years doing anything, and at some level, it would have been fine. I could have focused on flowers. I could have focused on decor. I could have focused on entertainment. Because any First Lady, rightfully, gets to define her role. There’s no legislative authority; you’re not elected. And that’s a wonderful gift of freedom.
