No matter the nationality, no matter the religion, no matter the ethnic background, America brings out the best in people.

Americans… still believe in an America where anything’s possible – they just don’t think their leaders do.

Are we simply waving farewell to the days when some of the most interesting thinking in Europe and America came to us from our fiction film-makers? BBC2, which once introduced and showed great films, now shows none.

America must not ignore the threat gathering against us. Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof, the smoking gun that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.

This dark diction has become America’s addiction.

I have a brother and sister; my mother does not care for thought, and father, too busy with his briefs to notice what we do. He buys me many books, but begs me not to read them, because he fears they joggle the mind.

I have learned, in my life and work as a sportswriter, that big-time Sports and big-time Politics are not so far apart in America. They are both a means to the same end, which is victory… And why not? Victory is good for you, and don’t let anybody tell you different.

I know what it feels like to struggle to get the education that you need.

Peace and abstinence from European interferences are our objects, and so will continue while the present order of things in America remain uninterrupted.

We all know that there are these exemplars who can take the toughest students, and they’ll teach them two-and-a-half years of math in a single year.

We can’t afford not to educate girls and give women the power and the access that they need.

I was terrible in English. I couldn’t stand the subject. It seemed to me ridiculous to worry about whether you spelled something wrong or not, because English spelling is just a human convention – it has nothing to do with anything real, anything from nature.

Community colleges play an important role in helping people transition between careers by providing the retooling they need to take on a new career.

If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans.

We will invest in our people, quality education, job opportunity, family, neighborhood, and yes, a thing we call America.

As long as I’m learning something, I figure I’m OK – it’s a decent day.

We are proud of the history of our country; we learned it in school and have grown up hearing of freedom, justice and human rights.

Natural ability without education has more often raised a man to glory and virtue than education without natural ability.
