I’ve had faith my whole life that there was someone looking out for me, a spirit guide, a soul guide.

A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges is not Christian. This is not in the Gospel.

Act, and God will act.

Lord sanctify us. Oh! That Thy spirit might come and saturate every faculty, subdue every passion, and use every power of our nature for obedience to God.

Certain though I am – and ever more certain – that I must press on in life as though Christ awaited me at the term of the universe, at the same time I feel no special assurance of the existence of Christ. Believing is not seeing. As much as anyone, I imagine, I walk in the shadows of faith.

The day we receive Jesus Christ as our Savior is one of the greatest days of our lives. Not only are our sins washed away, but God puts His Spirit inside of us and gives us new desires.

Knowing that the time to sleep has come, the Lord sleeps, and does well in sleeping. Often, when we have been fretting and worrying, we should have glorified God far more had we literally gone to sleep.

The answer is, who you are cannot be defined through thinking or mental labels or definitions, because it’s beyond that. It is the very sense of being, or presence, that is there when you become conscious of the present moment. In essence, you and what we call the present moment are, at the deepest level, one.

Religion is essentially the art and the theory of the remaking of man. Man is not a finished creation.

Life isn’t fair, but God is.

Man has throughout the ages been seeking something beyond himself, beyond material welfare – something we call truth or God or reality, a timeless state – something that cannot be disturbed by circumstances, by thought or by human corruption.

He that will believe only what he can fully comprehend must have a long head or a very short creed.

Americans admire a people who can scratch a desert and produce a garden. The Israelis have shown qualities that Americans identify with: guts, patriotism, idealism, a passion for freedom. I have seen it. I know. I believe that.

God didn’t make me to make movies, flex muscles, buy gold. What you love the most becomes your God… If I never make another dollar, my life is complete.

Do I live as carelessly and worldly as unbelievers while professing to be a follower of Jesus? If so, I am exposing Christianity to ridicule and leading people to speak evil of the holy name by which I am called.

Some people awaken spiritually without ever coming into contact with any meditation technique or any spiritual teaching. They may awaken simply because they can’t stand the suffering anymore.

My religion encompasses all religions. I believe in God, I believe in the universe. I believe you are god, I believe I am god; I believe the earth is god and the universe is god. We’re all god.

To us also, through every star, through every blade of grass, is not God made visible if we will open our minds and our eyes.

But God can only smile because only God can know what is coming next.

The Bible says that Christians are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. On the job, in the grocery store, even among unsaved friends and family members, God’s people are there to bring seasoning to an unsavory situation.

Don’t matter how much money you got, there’s only two kinds of people: there’s saved people and there’s lost people.

Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in cause and effect.

I believe in that old adage that ‚as goes California, so goes the country.‘

People define Christianity differently. I think a large portion of our population are Christians, they’re not all growing in their faith, they’re not all active, but I believe that a lot of people believe in Jesus and believe that he is their Lord and Savior.

The finite is annihilated in the presence of the infinite, and becomes a pure nothing. So our spirit before God, so our justice before divine justice.

I noticed words crudely spray-painted upon the wall, perhaps by a young Berliner: ‚This wall will fall. Beliefs become reality.‘ Yes, across Europe, this wall will fall. For it cannot withstand faith; it cannot withstand truth. The wall cannot withstand freedom.

When we walk without the cross, when we build without the cross and when we proclaim Christ without the cross, we are not disciples of the Lord. We are worldly. We may be bishops, priests, cardinals, popes, all of this, but we are not disciples of the Lord.

The Bible shows the way to go to heaven, not the way the heavens go.

There is nothing in this world that can compare with the Christian fellowship; nothing that can satisfy but Christ.

There are some Christian people who taste and see and enjoy religion in their own souls, and who get at a deeper knowledge of it than books can ever give them, though they should search all their days.

Puny man can do nothing at all to help or please God Almighty, and Luck is not the hand of God.

Death surrenders us totally to God: it makes us enter into him; we must, in return, surrender ourselves to death with absolute love and self-abandonment since, when death comes, all we can do is to surrender ourselves completely to the domination and guidance of God.

The most effective prayers are usually the simple prayers.

Religion is excellent stuff for keeping common people quiet.

You don’t have to be like everybody else or do things like everybody else. God created you to be a unique individual, and He wants you to be free to be who He made you to be.

Luck is believing you’re lucky.

The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.

I’ve always been – you know, my personality is motivating and encouraging. And so I’m just being who God made me to be.

I fear that there are too many priesthood bearers who have done little or nothing to develop their ability to access the powers of Heaven.

Development of outlook naturally begins with a respect for God… Reverence to God and reverence for one’s neighbor and reverence for oneself as a servant of God.

I don’t think I ever thought of myself as Superman. But there were people who thought of me that way, and maybe I believed them a little.

India has 2,000,000 gods and worships them all. In religion, all other countries are paupers; India is the only millionaire.

The truth is that you can only come to know God when you give up the past and the future in your mind and merge totally into the now, because God is always here now.

The Bible is a sanctum; the world, sputum.

I have never believed much in luck, and my sense of humor has tended to walk on the dark side.

Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right.

God can cause opportunity to find you. He has unexpected blessings where you suddenly meet the right person, or suddenly your health improves, or suddenly you’re able to pay off your house. That’s God shifting things in your favor.

All that the future holds in store for each sacred child of God will be shaped by his or her parents, family, friends, and teachers. Thus, our faith now becomes part of our posterity’s faith later.

I am not promising that God will give you everything you want. There are times when we want things that God knows would not be good for us.

Nothing fortifies scepticism more than the fact that there are some who are not sceptics; if all were so, they would be wrong.

Any God I ever felt in church I brought in with me.

She believed in nothing; only her skepticism kept her from being an atheist.

God knows what we are going through when we grieve, and He wants to assure us of His love and concern. He also wants us to turn to Him and bring our heartaches and burdens to Him.

The Bible says today is the accepted time, today is the day of salvation… But there will come a time when it will be too late for you.

I got a greater purpose. God put something in my heart to get across, and that’s what I’m going to focus on, using my voice as an instrument and doing what needs to be done.

I’m a child of God first. Before I became a celebrity, I was baptized a Christian.

Let us all remember this: one cannot proclaim the Gospel of Jesus without the tangible witness of one’s life.

You know, God gave me a gift to do other things besides play the game of basketball.

Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden.

Whether one believes in a religion or not, and whether one believes in rebirth or not, there isn’t anyone who doesn’t appreciate kindness and compassion.
