I’m sure everyone knows now that only a few have performed in Madison Square Garden. That list is so small. Now I’m on that list. I’m a part of a very small group, which is unbelievable. You relish in that moment for a second.

Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.

Getting recognized is insane. It just blows my mind. Like, someone who you don’t know at all can just be like, ‚Oh my God – are you Billie?‘

Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.

People think hard sparring will get you sharp. And you do get sharp in the gym. But anytime I’ve trained that way, I’ve actually been a little bit flatter in the fight. And the knockout shot hasn’t come. It’s almost because my training has been too hard.

Because a thing seems difficult for you, do not think it impossible for anyone to accomplish.

We aim above the mark to hit the mark.

Achievement brings its own anticlimax.

A BMW can’t take you as far as a diploma.

In the United States, I am a great success, but I am not a celebrity.

It was such a leap in my career when ‚Truman Show‘ came along. It’s always been a long process for me insofar as recognition goes, but that’s OK because you appreciate it when it comes.

If you get something right, you really feel it, right in your chest, on stage. I think it’s an incomparable experience.

In the past when I was in Hollywood, I was like a dog. I felt humiliated. My English was not good. People would even ask me ‚Jackie Who?‘.

In case you’re wondering whether I lip synch, the answer is no… people think so because I sound so good.

The special ops guys and the firefighters around the world have this great phrase. They say, ‚Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast,‘ and that is true. Everything I’ve accomplished in my life has been because of that attitude.

To supervise people, you must either surpass them in their accomplishments or despise them.

If you modestly enjoy your fame you are not unworthy to rank with the holy.

It’s what counts, isn’t it, on the Sunday, rather than pre-season testing. If you lock up, you do a little mistake, it’s nothing, but if you do it on Sunday, you lose a place or you have to box for a flat spot or something like that. It’s a much bigger problem.

There are more men ennobled by study than by nature.

To be successful, you need results in a row. You can’t win, lose, win, lose.

I can’t say this enough – the food that you put into your bodies can actually help you get better grades. And it can also affect your performance in sports and other activities too. You see, when you give your body the best possible fuel, you have more energy, you’re stronger, you think more quickly.

I think it’s healthy for a person to be nervous. It means you care – that you work hard and want to give a great performance. You just have to channel that nervous energy into the show.

If you are a leader, you should never forget that everyone needs encouragement. And everyone who receives it – young or old, successful or less-than-successful, unknown or famous – is changed by it.

I heard that when Christina Aguilera went back to her prom, people, like, booed her. I can’t imagine going through that. If you know that’s going to happen, why put yourself in that situation? I’d rather play for 20,000 screaming people, you know?

I definitely wasn’t anything special when I first started but I think I adapted quite quickly into racing and it became a bit better slowly. All of cadets, the first four years of karting, I only won one proper race, one! Which was the British Open Championship at PFI and I started 21st and I won.

If my future were determined just by my performance on a standardized test, I wouldn’t be here. I guarantee you that.

What is once well done is done forever.

The few who do are the envy of the many who only watch.

The reward of a thing well done is having done it.

I enjoy acting when you really hit it right.

My dad was into the 1950s doo-wop era. If you look at those groups, or at James Brown, Jackie Wilson and the Temptations in the 1960s, you’ll see you had to be sharp onstage.

How you go about testing is just very different to just being in the situation of qualifying, having to go out, having to nail the lap.

No man, who continues to add something to the material, intellectual and moral well-being of the place in which he lives, is left long without proper reward.

Why, except as a means of livelihood, a man should desire to act on the stage when he has the whole world to act in, is not clear to me.

My own dreams fortunately came true in this great state. I became Mr. Universe; I became a successful businessman. And even though some people say I still speak with a slight accent, I have reached the top of the acting profession.

I do get recognized, but I must say Edinburgh is a fantastic city to live if you’re well-known. There is an innate respect for privacy in Edinburgh people, and I also think they’re used to seeing me walking around, so I don’t think I’m a very big deal.

Success makes so many people hate you. I wish it wasn’t that way. It would be wonderful to enjoy success without seeing envy in the eyes of those around you.

I can’t deny that label-support gave me a leg up – though not every successful artist needs it.

I can’t act!

Of course awards matter.

I was 18 years old, and it was a dream come true for me to work out and eat great food for free. What else do you want in life? People think that is what it is like to be in a SEAL team, but it is less than a fraction of your career as a real SEAL.

I think that once you’ve had a few No. 1s in your career that you’ve kind of proven yourself, and I don’t feel the need to prove anything anymore.

I was the one who took football off the back pages and put it on to page one.

I’ve been blessed to be somebody that’s been climbing that success mountain top for years of hard work, you know, but now it’s all connecting. And now, the whole world is watching, you know what I’m saying, and it feels good ‚cause it’s good energy. This is all positive vibes, and good vibes and good energy, so it feels incredible.

I stayed true to my dreams and, eventually, they came true.

I’ve been talked about by a lot better people than the general public.

While they were saying among themselves it cannot be done, it was done.

There’s Madeleine, and then there’s ‚Madeleine Albright‘. And I sometimes kind of think, who is this person? Once you become ‚Madeleine Albright‘ it doesn’t go away.

It’s cool to be recognised by your peers.

If you’re a human being, you can attempt to do what other human beings have done. We don’t understand talent any more than we understand electricity.

Eradications are special. Zero is a magic number. You either do what it takes to get to zero and you’re glad you did it; or you get close, give up and it goes back to where it was before, in which case you wasted all that credibility, activity, money that could have been applied to other things.

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

I am proud of having done what I’ve done. Very proud.

With drive and a bit of talent, you can move mountains. I know. I’ve done it.

I won at every level – all the way since I started playing the game of basketball at nine. I’ve won at every level, won championships at every level. And, you know, it won’t be fulfilled until I win at the highest level.
