I’m fat, but I’m thin inside… there’s a thin man inside every fat man.

My work is about my life, and what I want to do with it.

Through my films I’m eventually trying to one day tell the truth. I don’t know if I’m ever going to get there, but I’m slowly letting pieces of myself out there and then maybe by the time I’m 85, I’ll look back and say, ‚All right, that about sums it up.‘

All my adult life people have been helping me.

If someone you know makes a bad decision or uses bad judgment, it doesn’t mean you have to allow that to alter your attitude. Why should you allow anyone else’s bad decisions to send you into a tailspin of misery?

What is true belongs to me!

Reversing your treatment of the man you have wronged is better than asking his forgiveness.

The best measure of a man’s honesty isn’t his income tax return. It’s the zero adjust on his bathroom scale.

Questioning my spiritual life has always been germane to what I was writing. Always. It’s because I’m not quite an atheist and it worries me. There’s that little bit that holds on: ‚Well, I’m almost an atheist. Give me a couple of months.‘

I continuously go further and further learning about my own limitations, my body limitation, psychological limitations. It’s a way of life for me.

If you would lift me up you must be on higher ground.

I like to recede away from classifications. You might say that indicates a fundamental lack of commitment. I suppose that’s true to some degree.

You might win some, you might lose some. But you go in, you challenge yourself, you become a better man, a better individual, a better fighter.

As I grow up, the lessons I learn in love and relationships and how we treat each other are hopefully maturing – hopefully.

The difficulties you meet will resolve themselves as you advance. Proceed, and light will dawn, and shine with increasing clearness on your path.

I’ll never, ever be full. I’ll always be hungry. Obviously, I’m not talking about food. Growing up, I had nothing for such a long time. Someone told me a long time ago, and I’ve never forgotten it, ‚Once you’ve ever been hungry, really, really hungry, then you’ll never, ever be full.‘

No one should be ashamed to admit he is wrong, which is but saying, in other words, that he is wiser today than he was yesterday.

Never complain and never explain.

Someone told me something that stuck with me: ‚You have to envision your life, and then go backwards.‘ I’ve been living by that motto for a while, so I see where I need to be. Now I’m just backtracking and trying to get back up there.

I’ve never been pregnant, so I just feel God didn’t mean for me to have kids so that everybody else’s children could be mine.

Don’t ever forget two things I’m going to tell you. One, don’t believe everything that’s written about you. Two, don’t pick up too many checks.

I haven’t changed at all. I’m the same as when I was 11.

This has always been my life and no one else’s, and that’s how it’s always been since the day I came in it.

My children came out as individuals in their own right. They were not my products. They had their own characters and were very strong-minded. I gave them a lot of freedom when they were still very young. The one thing they got from me is morals. They would never betray anyone. They are really good people.

I always kind of see how I want things to be better, and I’m generally not happy with how things are or the level of service that we’re providing for people or the quality of the teams that we built. But if you look at this objectively, we’re doing so well on so many of these things. I think it’s important to have gratitude for that.

I’ve experienced great things, I’ve experienced great tragedies. I’ve done almost everything I could possibly ever imagine doing, but I just know that there’s more.

I had a lot of resistance, and not just to fame. I was always conscious of not changing.

I’m a genetic optimist.

Whatever I am, it’s natural… I don’t have to pretend to be aggressive, don’t have to show the opposition that I am on the field. Being aggressive comes naturally to me, helps me perform.

They must often change, who would be constant in happiness or wisdom.

The older I get, the more important the eternal becomes to me personally.

You don’t have to be like everybody else or do things like everybody else. God created you to be a unique individual, and He wants you to be free to be who He made you to be.

I never come back home with the same moral character I went out with; something or other becomes unsettled where I had achieved internal peace; some one or other of the things I had put to flight reappears on the scene.

My one big regret is that I didn’t play on for ten more years.

When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everybody will respect you.

Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when you riding through the ruts, don’t complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy. Don’t bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality. Wake Up and Live!

The greatest day in your life and mine is when we take total responsibility for our attitudes. That’s the day we truly grow up.

Experience does not err. Only your judgments err by expecting from her what is not in her power.

I have learned that as long as I hold fast to my beliefs and values – and follow my own moral compass – then the only expectations I need to live up to are my own.

Difficulties are things that show a person what they are.

I am a big believer in education, because when I grew up in Austria – when I grew up in Austria I had a great education. I had great teachers.

Friendship is always a sweet responsibility, never an opportunity.

I’m not a natural performer or exhibitionist. When I was younger, I hated the focus, and it made me feel strange.

I’m intimidated by the fear of being average.

I’m very secure about my talents and about who I am.

There’s definitely going to be things that I’m not very good at, things I can improve.

For a long time, I thought I was ugly and disfigured. This made me shy and timid, and I often reacted to insults that were not intended.

It’s not the daily increase but daily decrease. Hack away at the unessential.

Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them.

I used to have insecurity about my finances, then I announced that I had debt, and now I don’t have any insecurities.

We work to become, not to acquire.

You have to do your own growing no matter how tall your grandfather was.

I suppose for a very long time I’ve been trying to understand how it is that people might make sense out of their lives and make meaning and make their lives meaningful in the face of the trouble that life brings.

I didn’t want to be a fashion designer, and for a good half of my career I didn’t like it. I always wanted to do other things.

Nurture your minds with great thoughts. To believe in the heroic makes heroes.

Now I am older, I understand we have to accept who we are.

The need for change bulldozed a road down the center of my mind.

My weaknesses have always been food and men – in that order.

A game is like a mirror that allows you to look at yourself.

I think that’s the single best piece of advice: constantly think about how you could be doing things better and questioning yourself.
