I want to lose weight because I want to be focused, meaning healthy.

I don’t sleep much. I don’t sleep much – I work, I work, I work.

Concentration is one of the happiest things in my life.

As a kid, I used to see how Sachin Tendulkar used to win matches under pressure for India in Sharjah or other places. So I was always keen to repeat the same in similar situations. I don’t take pressure on myself when I am in the middle. I love pressure, and I always believe that pressure makes you more focused.

I focus on one thing and one thing only – that’s trying to win as many championships as I can.

I eat next to nothing.

I love being active.

If I am a cup maker, I’m interested in making the best cup I possibly can. My effort goes into that cup, not what people think about it.

Before I became a writer, I was running a jazz bar in the center of Tokyo, which means that I worked in filthy air all the time late into the night. I was very excited when I started making a living out of my writing, and I decided, ‚I will live in nothing but an absolutely healthy way.‘

Sleep is all about recovering. So if you’re not sleeping, you’re not recovering. And if you’re going to break your body down a lot, you better find ways to build it back up. And the only way to do that is get a lot of sleep. So for me, I go to bed at like 8:30, 9:00. As soon as I put my kids to bed. Because I’m up at 5:30 the next day.

The perplexity of life arises from there being too many interesting things in it for us to be interested properly in any of them.

Our main business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance, but to do what lies clearly at hand.

I have often been asked what I think about at the moment of take-off. Of course, no pilot sits and feels his pulse as he flies. He has to be part of the machine. If he thinks of anything but the task in hand, then trouble is probably just around the corner.

I can have people around a lot more because I’m not always chasing them away so I can work on my novel. My non-novel, I mean.

Precaution is better than cure.

I’m sure that at no point in my life could I ever have shown the kind of focus and discipline and commitment necessary to work a station at elBulli or Le Bernardin. No. That ain’t me.

All things will be produced in superior quantity and quality, and with greater ease, when each man works at a single occupation, in accordance with his natural gifts, and at the right moment, without meddling with anything else.

Touring is hard on the body.

Disease is the retribution of outraged Nature.

I have had some cosmetic surgery, especially after I lost weight and stuff, and I’ve had my breasts lifted – but not injected. That would scare me to death, anyway.

I’m never on Twitter. I’m never on Instagram. And that’s not by choice: it’s just that those things never really interested me. I might post a picture here and there, but that ain’t really been my focus.

You have to stay fresh and blank in your mind when you go out to bat. You complicate things, and you’re gone.

Take a course in good water and air; and in the eternal youth of Nature you may renew your own. Go quietly, alone; no harm will befall you.

Meditation is a great way to keep my body well-centered while juggling shooting schedules and recording sessions.

My priority is cricket. Everything that I get apart from it is a result of the effort on the field. Everything else follows. I am pretty aware of my priorities, and I don’t really focus on things that are not as important to me as cricket.

Pursue one great decisive aim with force and determination.

It’s crazy how fast you get out of shape if you miss a couple days of action.

One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.

He who is fixed to a star does not change his mind.

You want to do good things, and once you’ve done a couple of good things in a row, you think ‚Well gee, let’s not mess this up.‘ But I am lucky at this point that I have something I really love to do, and it completely holds my attention. I never feel frustrated by it.

One man cannot practice many arts with success.

Everybody asks if putting is like shooting free throws. It has a very similar kind of mindset. And it’s just you, the ball, and the target.

I don’t really read a lot of newspapers. I don’t pay attention to what is being said or written about me. I’ve had lots of experiences in the past when I got too much into it. That sort of diverts your focus.

I’ll never graduate from collagen.

An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.

If you look at anyone who has achieved great success and wealth, people like Warren Buffett, Oprah Winfrey, or Lance Armstrong, they have all focused intensely in order to win.

Give whatever you are doing and whoever you are with the gift of your attention.

In two decades I’ve lost a total of 789 pounds. I should be hanging from a charm bracelet.

I drink a lot of coconut water. It balances out all the other toxic stuff I put into my body.

Fatigue is the best pillow.

Writing is challenging work because it’s so easy to get consumed with how it’s going, what’s going to happen to it, who’s going to like or not like it. You want to get all of that stuff out of your head and just let the work flow.

There are so many emotions that you’re feeling, you can get stifled by them if you’re feeling them all at once. What I try to do is take one moment – one simple, simple feeling – and expand it into three-and-a-half minutes.

That we are not much sicker and much madder than we are is due exclusively to that most blessed and blessing of all natural graces, sleep.

How about a little noise. How do you expect a man to putt?

I was trying to daydream, but my mind kept wandering.

I’m very serious about no alcohol, no drugs. Life is too beautiful.

Don’t run if you can walk. Don’t walk if you can stand. Don’t stand if you can sit. Don’t sit if you can lie down.

Entrepreneurs are natural problem-solvers, which means that we always have ideas for new businesses popping into our heads. Having a lot of options is great, but sometimes it can be hard to focus on one when you are keen to move onto the next.

Never look back unless you are planning to go that way.

That’s been one of my mantras – focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.

I’m just glad to be feeling better. I really thought I’d be seeing Elvis soon.

Never neglect details. When everyone’s mind is dulled or distracted the leader must be doubly vigilant.

I never look at my watch when I’m sketching!

A lot of people from my generation of music are so focused on playing things correctly or to perfection that they’re stuck in that safe place.
