Fashion is always of the time in which you live. It is not something standing alone. But the grand problem, the most important problem, is to rejeuvenate women. To make women look young. Then their outlook changes. They feel more joyous.

If I’m in a bad mood, or if I’m uncomfortable, it’s probably what I’m wearing that’s making me feel that way.

With a suit, always wear big British shoes, the ones with large welts. There’s nothing worse than dainty little Italian jobs at the end of the leg line.

There are some women I definitely would not want to succeed me… but a man like David Souter, that would be great.

Women deeply want men who are competent and powerful. And I don’t mean power in that they can exert tyrannical control over others. That’s not power. That’s just corruption.

Man is fond of counting his troubles, but he does not count his joys. If he counted them up as he ought to, he would see that every lot has enough happiness provided for it.

After many years of great mercy, after tasting of the powers of the world to come, we still are so weak, so foolish; but, oh! when we get away from self to God, there all is truth and purity and holiness, and our heart finds peace, wisdom, completeness, delight, joy, victory.

Sometimes your joy is the source of your smile, but sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy.

Fashion is inspired by youth and nostalgia and draws inspiration from the best of the past.

Rejoicing in our joy, not suffering over our suffering, makes someone a friend.

Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.

If you don’t live your life, then who will?

I think it’s so important for girls to love themselves and to treat their bodies respectfully.

Those who cannot think or take responsibility for themselves need, and clamor for, a leader.
