I’m always amazed by the people who work on stage who sing night after night, day after day, week in week out.

By the time we see that climate change is really bad, your ability to fix it is extremely limited… The carbon gets up there, but the heating effect is delayed. At the major studios, you see people wanting to remake a TV series, wanting to make a sequel.

I think that once you fully understand the climate and ecological emergencies, then you know what you can do as well. And, of course, there’s a lot of things you can do in your everyday life, but we cannot be focusing on these individual things you can do. We have to see the full picture.

I’m not in the loop; I don’t know any actors, really, just the ones I work with.

My mother was a very wonderful woman. When she and my dad divorced, she moved to California and worked two jobs in the cannery at night and as a waitress during the day. But she saved enough money to establish a restaurant.

In Buddhism, we talk of meditation as an act of awakening, to be awake to the fact that the earth is in danger and living species are in danger.

If I’d married someone in show business, there’d be too much competition.

In Hollywood the woods are full of people that learned to write but evidently can’t read. If they could read their stuff, they’d stop writing.

Actor’s life is very long.

This film cost $31 million. With that kind of money I could have invaded some country.
