I didn’t want to just be another girl singer. I wanted there to be something that set me apart.

This has always been my life and no one else’s, and that’s how it’s always been since the day I came in it.

I am attracted to people who make this effort in knowing what suits them – they are individual and stylish.

All of us are in the same place, each with our own rooms, and we were allowed to do whatever we wanted. Which is totally different than college, where they manage your schedule for you. In the NBA, you’re on your own.

The thing that doesn’t fit is the thing that’s the most interesting: the part that doesn’t go according to what you expected.

To become ‚unique,‘ the challenge is to fight the hardest battle which anyone can imagine until you reach your destination.

To be one, to be united is a great thing. But to respect the right to be different is maybe even greater.

People should make up their own mind about what they think of me.

And although our bodies are bounded with skin, and we can differentiate between outside and inside, they cannot exist except in a certain kind of natural environment.

I don’t live by all these rigid, weird rules that make me feel all fenced in. I just like the way that I feel like, and that makes me feel very free.

Allow children to be happy in their own way, for what better way will they find?

What’s the greater risk? Letting go of what people think – or letting go of how I feel, what I believe, and who I am?

When I was fourteen and first started going out, I always wanted to be the opposite of everyone else. So I would go to the club in a polo T-shirt and pants and sneakers and a hat on backward, just so I would not be dressed like other girls.
