Facebook was not originally created to be a company. It was built to accomplish a social mission – to make the world more open and connected.

Forces that you might think are utterly unrelated to creativity can have a big impact. Technology, obviously, but environment, too. Even financial structures can affect the actual content of a song. The making of music is profoundly affected by the market.

We have too many cellphones. We’ve got too many internets. We have got to get rid of those machines. We have too many machines now.

We are in the throes of a transition where every publication has to think of their digital strategy.

For the general public or psychos on Facebook, for everyone who’s made one negative comment about me, I’ve probably gotten 250-300 positive comments.

If that’s there, I believe that technology will probably step up to their part of it.

The age in which we live, this non-stop distraction, is making it more impossible for the young generation to ever have the curiosity or discipline… because you need to be alone to find out anything.

The multiplication force of technology on cognitive differences is massive.

It’s not a faith in technology. It’s faith in people.

Facebook are an amazing team, a brilliant team. It’s a technology that brings people together.

What turns me on about the digital age, what excited me personally, is that you have closed the gap between dreaming and doing. You see, it used to be that if you wanted to make a record of a song, you needed a studio and a producer. Now, you need a laptop.

There’s no other company that could make a MacBook Air and the reason is that not only do we control the hardware, but we control the operating system. And it is the intimate interaction between the operating system and the hardware that allows us to do that. There is no intimate interaction between Windows and a Dell notebook.
