When I’m surfing, I’m sure not thinking about the paparazzi. I guess if they start getting on floaties and coming out there in the water, then I might be a little upset.

Joanne‘ is a progression for me. It was about going into the studio and forgetting that I was famous.

I heard that when Christina Aguilera went back to her prom, people, like, booed her. I can’t imagine going through that. If you know that’s going to happen, why put yourself in that situation? I’d rather play for 20,000 screaming people, you know?

America is a country of inventors, and the greatest of inventors are the newspaper men.

I say to the paparazzi, ‚Fellas, take your shot and go.‘ It’s just they usually find me on a beach.
